Sparkler Sugar Cookie

Serves 8-10

Sugar Cookie

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

1 cup butter, softened

1 egg

1/2 tsp baking soda

1 tsp Villa Vainilla vanilla extract

Cream Cheese Frosting

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup butter, softened

4 cups powdered sugar

1 tsp Villa Vainilla extract

Fruit

Blueberries

Thinly sliced strawberries

Thinly sliced bananas

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Press dough into a nonstick, shallow baking dish or pizza pan.  Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Allow cookie to cool completely before applying cream cheese frosting. Spread frosting evenly over the top of the cookie.  Arrange fruit in an American flag pattern. *Optional- stick sparklers into the cookie and light just before serving.  Cut cookie and serve.
